HERITAGE CONSULTANT

  • Salary: commensurate with experience.
  • Primarily home-working with site visits as required.
  • Full time (39 hours per week)


Heritage Unlimited is a Heritage consultancy based in London and operates on projects throughout the country. We provide specialist heritage advice to both public and private sector clients regarding changes to listed buildings and developments in conservation areas.

We have a proven track record of delivering high quality reports on a wide range of projects. We often deal with complex planning issues and are called on to provide both design and technical advice to clients to ensure end goals are achieved on a wide range of projects affecting the historic environment. We are a small, friendly company offering a huge scope for the successful person to gain experience in a wide range of heritage environments.

The Role

This role would suit a Heritage Consultant who enjoys working independently to a high standard as well as collaborating on larger team projects. You will be responsible for researching and preparing a range of documents including but not limited to Heritage Statements, Conservation Plans and Building Recording. You will liaise directly with clients and consultants from other disciplines.

To join us you will need:

  • A degree in building conservation or archaeology and a member, or eligible for membership, of the IHBC
  • A working knowledge of the Planning System
  • An understanding of architectural design
  • An understanding of repairs to listed buildings
  • A good knowledge of conservation skills is desirable
  • The ability to write reports to a deadline
  • An ability to provide guidance on changes to listed buildings
  • An ability to provide design guidance on new developments in conservation areas/setting of heritage assets
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ideally located in London or one of the surrounding counties with the ability to travel
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
