Chinnerys

Cavendish, Nr. Sudbury
Grade II Listed Building

Heritage Unlimited were engaged to provide heritage services with regards to a planning application and listed building consent (LBC) for the regularisation of unauthorised internal and external works at Chinnerys, Cavendish.

The property is grade II listed and recognised for its highly attractive vernacular style formed by 16th-17th century timber framing with 20th century herringbone pattern brick infill.

Heritage Unlimited were engaged to provide heritage services with regards to a planning application and listed building consent (LBC) for the regularisation of unauthorised internal and external works at Chinnerys, Cavendish.

Chinnerys also features a historic shop element and makes an important contribution to the historic village’s streetscape and morphology as a result of its prominent position and prior uses as a garage and commercial premises.

As the project was complex, concerning both enforcement issues and future works, our services were engaged in two phases. Firstly, the consultant visited the site to assess the condition of the site and its environs, informing an understanding to be used to open discussion, provide advice and guidance, and formulate an onward strategy. In the second phase, the HUL team were then able to liaise with Local Planning Authority (LPA) and attend a joint site visit with them; produce a comprehensive set of plan drawings; prepare a Heritage Statement describing Chinnerys and all surrounding heritage assets in detail and assessing the impact of all works; and provide post-submission guidance.

Following a well organised, detailed, and proactive process, Heritage Unlimited are delighted to say that all matters were resolved, and permission was granted for both applications.
